This is an ode to my mother, Peggy McGoldrick, who died last fall. She was a bareback-riding tomboy farm girl who blossomed into a gardener, artist, athlete, Marine lieutenant and mother of six. She embraced nature, color and life itself with passion and determination. Employing encaustics to create colors and shapes, I alternated surfaces of wood and fabric, painting and monoprinting to contrast textures as I played with size, color and repitition. Images of Peggy, many half hidden, allow the seasons of her life to mimic the seasons of a garden.
